Located on the historic Rue Chartres, the Hotel St. Helene stands right next to the celebrated Napoleon House bar and restaurant, once the home of New Orleans mayor Nicholas Girod, who, according to legend, offered sanctuary to Napoleon Bonaparte during his exile. Napoleon never made it, unfortunately, but the Hotel St. Helene's name is a tribute to the man and to the island where he spent the last years of his life.
