September in New Orleans means two things: festivals and football! Check out our top picks below and take a peek at our events calendar for more September must-dos.
A juicy addition to the New Orleans festival calendar this year is Burger Fest, which will debut September 8 & 9 in Crescent Park on the riverfront. Along with traditional beef burgers, the festival will offer hot sausage, seafood burgers of all kinds, and even burgers vegans can enjoy.
Shimmy and dip along with the best burlesque dancers in the world as they compete for the title "Queen of Burlesque," September 14-17. Click here for location information.
Last year’s Fried Chicken Festival was so popular, they had to add another day and move to a larger venue. Join us at Woldenberg Park on September 23rd and 24th for events like the Fried Chicken Tenders Eating Contest, the Best Fried Chicken Contest, entertainment on two music stages, a kids pavilion, a misting lounge and celebrity cooking demonstration. Make no bones about it – this is a fun event.
Join us in City Park on September 23 at the NOLA On Tap Beer Festival. (While most beer festivals are held in October, the beer down here is so good we couldn’t wait.) Taste more than 400 brews, enjoy great New Orleans food, and dance to live music all day long. Proceeds benefit the Louisiana SPCA.
This annual festival will be held Sept. 29-Oct 1 on the street near St. Augustine Church. Come see top local artists like Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers and Glen David Andrews, and enjoy cuisine from some of New Orleans top food trucks and eateries.
Who dat! The Saints will open their season September 11 in Minnesota on Monday Night Football. Bars and restaurants in French Quarter will be hoppin’. Come join the fun. On September 17th, the boys will be home in the Dome where they’ll take on the Super Bowl LI champion New England Patriots. Come early to join the pre-party in Champions Square.
