Mardi Gras day is almost here and we can’t wait! However, if you haven’t reserved your room yet, you still have time to make last minute plans. A few of our favorites have rooms available—but hurry because we can’t guarantee they’ll be available long!

French Quarter

The French Quarter (a.k.a., the Vieux Carré) is the best-known neighborhood in New Orleans. Enjoy easy access to some of the best music and food the city has to offer. (See French Quarter Restaurants.) Although no major float parades ride through the Quarter, it's a non-stop party during Carnival and you can watch the parades on Canal Street or hop on the St. Charles Streetcar Line for easy access. (Be sure to check times because the streetcars stop running up to two hours before a parade begins and begin their route after the parades end).

Maison Dupuy: If you haven't seen the couryard at the Maison Dupuy, you've haven't been to New Orleans. This unique boutique is a slice of tranquility just steps Bourbon Street. Bistreaux restaurant, located inside the hotel, is a must-experience as well.

905 Royal: You couldn't find a more central location for French Quarter Mardi Gras fun than 905 Royal. This charming European-style hotel was built in the 1890s and features 7 rooms and 3 suites with balconies overlooking Royal Street.

Garden District/Uptown

One of the loveliest neighhoods in the South is right here in New Orleans. Majestic live oaks, grand mansions, world-famous restaurants like Commander's Palace, Pascal's Manale and more await. These hotels are all within walking to the parades on St. Charles Avenue.

Central Business District

Getting around during Mardi Gras can be tricky, so we recommend staying within walking distance of the parades or a short streetcar ride away— the Central Business District offers just that. It’s centrally located between the Convention Center and French Quarter with easy access to major New Orleans attractions. Bonus: You can also walk to the parade route! If you want to catch the parade at the beginning of the route, hop on the streetcar—it’s just a short ride. 

Holiday Inn Superdome: The Holiday Inn Superdome offers a little something for everyone, just minutes from Mardi Gras excitement. The hotel offers everything you've come to expect from Holiday Inn with a glorious rooftop pool with stunning views of the city). You'll also enjoy onsite dining courtesy the Streetcar Restaurant.

The Pelham Hotel: This historic landmark is on the site of former plantation of New Orleans' founder Jean Baptiste LeMoyne Bienville.  It features 60 guestrooms with grand 18-foot ceilings, original old brick walls, crown molding and 10-foot-tall windows. It's an easy walk to both Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue downtown for parades.

HI New Orleans Hostel: This brand-spanking new hostel across the street from the French Quarter is the ideal spot to stay for the Canal Street parades. If your kids or grandkids are bringing home a bunch of friends from college, don't blow up the air mattress – book a room for the overflow here. Their new restaurant TaCreole will be serving during the parades as well. This is street fare at it's best.

Plantation Country

If you want to take in few parades this Mardi Gras but would rather avoid the crowd in New Orleans, consider booking a room in Plantation Country, just 1 1/2 hours from the city. Come into New Orleans for the day or experience Carnival in Cajun Country or Baton Rouge.
